  • TeachMideast - The purpose of TeachMideast is to provide free and accessible, high-quality information and resources to enable K-14 educators to teach about the Middle East in social studies and introductory area studies classes. TeachMideast is an initiative of the Middle East Policy Council, whose grassroots educational outreach program extends expertise to educators and other civic leaders throughout the United States, helping inform today's citizenry and tomorrow's policymakers and opinion leaders about the complex cultural and historical context in the Middle East that future U.S. leaders need to understand

​ANALYSIS AND COMMENTARY

  • Middle East Policy Council - The Middle East Policy Council is a nonprofit organization founded in 1981 whose mission is to contribute to American understanding of the political, economic and cultural issues that affect U.S. interests in the Middle East.

  • Middle East Research and Information Project (MERIP) - MERIP provides critical, alternative reporting and analysis, focusing on state power, political economy and social hierarchies as well as popular struggles and the role of US policy in the region. 

  • Al-Monitor: Founded by Jamal Daniel in 2012, Al-Monitor’s mission is to foster a deeper understanding between the Middle East and the international community by diving deep with analytical pieces from some of the most trusted, independent authors from across the globe.

PHOTOGRAPHS

  • University of Chicago Middle East Photograph Archive - The Middle East Photograph Archive consists of over 400 photographic prints dating primarily to the second half of the nineteenth century. At this time, the spread of the art of photography and the influx of Europeans into the lands of the Middle East led to the creation of a large number of photographs produced by professional photographers. The collection was first scanned and made available on the Library’s website in 1996 at what is today considered low resolution. The collection was re-digitized in 2014 in color and at a higher resolution in order to create preservation-quality master files, and to make the collection easier to navigate for both general and advanced users.
