Costs and Financial Support

The estimated tuition cost for full-time enrollment for one year (three courses, three per quarter) can be found on the Bursar’s website.  Enrolling in a program of study includes additional costs beyond tuition. For a full list of direct and indirect expenses associated with the cost of attendance, please visit the Cost of Attendance page of the Graduate Financial Aid Office website.

Limited merit-based aid is available. All applicants are considered for aid as part of the application review process. There is no separate application form for University financial support. Please contact mastersadmissions@uchicago.edu for additional information about financial aid for master's programs.

For the second year all successful students, those with a GPA of 3.5 or above are likely to receive additional funding, many at the full tuition level. Second year students can also apply for Foreign Language and Areas Studies (FLAS) awards, which add a stipend.

Other funding opportunities for students can be found on the Student Grants and Fellowships page.
