CMES is proud of its reputation as a national leader in research, education, and outreach on the Middle East. The MA program in Middle Eastern Studies continues to thrive, posting record enrollments in recent years. The center actively supports interdisciplinary research efforts, including a wide variety of conferences and symposia, to advance knowledge of the region. CMES also remains committed to an ambitious and innovative program of public outreach. Unfortunately, with recent cuts in federal Title VI support, and further cuts likely on the horizon, CMES relies more than ever on the support of its friends and alumni who value what we do. Our regular lecture series, the annual student-sponsored MEHAT conference, and our countless other activities, from weekly language circles to film screenings and public outreach activities, are vital and worthwhile – and all require financial support.
While we welcome any contribution, donors can sponsor specific programs with the following levels of support:
For $1000, you can purchase a book for the library with a named plate in the jacket cover to recognize your donation.
For $1500 – $5000, you can sponsor a lecture by a prominent scholar in Middle Eastern studies.
For $10,000, you can sponsor the CMES Friday Lecture Series, the center's flagship program for showcasing new and interesting research on the Middle East, for one year. Your support would guarantee nine lectures during the academic year.
For $12,500, you can sponsor a two-day academic conference and/or outreach program on a wide range of topics. The interdisciplinary expertise of CMES faculty affiliates allows us to coordinate programs across a wide range of academic and professional fields.
With larger gifts, you have the opportunity to fund a broad range of valuable programs and activities, such as visiting professorships, endowed lectures, student scholarships, and library acquisitions.
